Touchstone Advisory Ltd launches in Bahamas

A recently established financial advisory has been making positive waves throughout the financial world, seemingly due to the personnel involved and the commitment it has made to using innovation and the latest technology in finding the best and most appropriate solutions for clients.

Touchstone Advisory Ltd is fully licensed and regulated by the Securities Commission of the Bahamas, from where it is based, and focuses predominantly on financial solutions for expatriates, which include ROPS, SIPPS and QNUPS, extending to asset and portfolio management and retirement planning.

But it is the individuals who have come together to establish Touchstone Advisory Ltd that have really made the financial world sit up and take notice. CEO Ben Alderson has nearly 20 years of international experience in managing the portfolios of High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), initially in Dubai, before taking his personal finance expertise to New York. He has garnered a reputation based on offering a clear direction for his clients, and a personalised service, which is based on forging a long term relationship with each of his clients.

Alderson is joined by Adrian Flambard, a UK Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and US Registered Investment Advisor, who takes his position as a Senior Investment Advisor. His experience of providing financial solutions, which spans more than 30 years, includes a decade of offering pension advice to international expats across the world.

Bennett Linsky, who graduated in Economics from the University of South Carolina, joins as the Director of Client Services. The American financial expert has worked predominantly within the pension and offshore markets since entering the industry – an area of specialisation that sits well within the framework of the business.

The fourth member of the boutique financial firm is Stephen Atterbury. He brings with him 17 years of experience with institutions such as HSBC and Lloyds of London, and has international experience garnered from destinations such as Dubai, New York, Hong Kong and London.

Personalised service

Touchstone Advisory Ltd is a small firm, but all the signs point towards a personalised service, where the customers’ true long term interest is positioned as the singular priority. Whereas some financial consultancies have developed a reputation for self-serving solutions, with exorbitant charges, an outdated viewpoint as to what customer servicing really is post-signup, and a tendency to favour certain (high commission, high risk) products, Touchstone Advisory Ltd proclaims to distance itself from taking unnecessary risks with client’s money, minimising fees, and providing a transparent, ongoing service to clients.

The firm certainly has impressive credentials in terms of personnel, and it makes promises to give clear, honest advice. While there is a degree of uncertainty surrounding the state of pension transfers at this moment, and yet more concern with leaving pensions in a post-Brexit UK, expats will be looking for some clarifications regarding the landscape currently, and whether they will be genuinely better off moving pensions overseas, if they are even able to without suffering severe penalties. This could be the area that Touchstone Advisory Ltd fit into, as a lack of definitive information has been forthcoming; advice has become muddied, particularly when offered by those without the qualifications or experience to do so. Touchstone will be looking to penetrate the market and clarify the many questions that remain unanswered for concerned expats.
